Australian Government Funded Training
You might have heard about Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships – did you know that nearly all of our courses are eligible for funding under this scheme?
How does it work?
An Australian Traineeship or Apprenticeship is a contract between an employer, a Registered Training Organisation (that’s us), and the Australian Government.
The employer provides a suitable workplace and environment for the trainee or apprentice to develop the relevant skills; the Registered Training Organisation passes on the necessary knowledge; and, the Government funds the activity. The contract is managed by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre.
The outcome is a nationally accredited Certificate or Diploma (for the employee), and a highly skilled and motivated worker (for the employer).
Who is eligible?
To be eligible to start an apprenticeship or traineeship and receive Australian Government funding, you must be 15 years of age or over, and either:
- An Australian citizen; or
- A permanent resident; or
- A New Zealand passport holder who has been a resident in Australia for at least 6 months
You must also be employed on either a full-time, part-time or Australian School-based basis (not available to casual employees).
If you are currently studying, the apprenticeship or traineeship cannot be from a similar field to that which you are studying.
There are also varying eligibility rules around previous study and access to the apprenticeship or traineeship scheme. Please contact us for more information.
What funding is available?
Upon contracting an eligible trainee or apprentice, employers receive a commencement incentive payment of $1,500 ($1,250 for Certificate II level qualifications).
When the trainee or apprentice finishes their award, usually within 12-24 months, they receive a completion incentive payment of $2,500.
Other commencement, retention and completion incentives are also available for eligible employees. Your State government may also provide top-up funding.
